What is a smart thermostat?

A smart thermostat is a part of a home heating system that senses and controls the temperature. Unlike a typical thermostat that only facilitates changing the temperature in a house, a smart thermostat allows full control over a home’s heating.

Smart thermostats allow users to program the temperature of a house based on the time of day and to make changes from a remote location by means of a smartphone, computer or tablet. A smart thermostat learns and adapts to its owner’s behavior. Some smart thermostats also display real-time energy consumption, adjusting automatically based on weather conditions and humidity.
