What do snails drink?

Snails need water to survive, and some snails do drink water; some species of snails absorb water from the air or, in the case of water snails, from the water they live in. Snails often consume liquid when eating various vegetables and fruits.

Snails have a varied diet and are primarily herbivores, though some snails are carnivorous. Snails in captivity require a source of water for drinking and to humidify their environment. Snails can dry out in arid conditions, which normally results in death.

One way to provide water for pet snails, and to prevent over-watering, is to provide them with damp cardboard or paper towels, which most snails eat.
