Do snails sleep?

Snails sleep, and they tend to follow a sleep cycle that lasts two to three days. A snail sleeps in approximately seven bouts in a period of 13 to 15 hours.

The snail's sleep clusters are often followed by more than 24 hours of uninterrupted activity. Snails do not seem bothered by their lack of sleep. In addition, snails hibernate and sleep for a long period of time in the winter and summer. To protect themselves from predators and preserve energy, they excrete a layer of mucus that eventually hardens and acts as a protective barrier over the opening of their shells.
