Is snow a solid, liquid or gas?

Snow is a solid. A snowflake is made when tiny ice crystals adhere to one another. Though they can be a variety of shapes and sizes and the odds of two being identical are vanishingly small, snowflakes always have six sides. Under normal conditions, snow is white, soft and fluffy.
The more common types of snowflakes are prisms, star-shaped, or stellar plates, sectored or double plates, stellar dendrites that can be plain or fernlike and capped or hollow columns. Other snowflakes can appear in the form of needles, stars, split plates, bullet rosettes or irregular crystals. These shapes are determined by temperature and humidity.
