Does Sobeys operate in Canada?

As of 2015, Sobeys is one of the two national grocery chains in operation in Canada. The chain has over 1,500 retail locations spanning all 10 Canadian provinces. Sobeys has been in the food business for 107 years.

In addition to the Sobeys name, the company operates under multiple other retail banners, such as Safeway, IGA, Foodland, FreshCo, Price Chopper, Thrifty Foods and Lawtons Drugs. Safeway is Sobeys Inc's newest acquisition, completed in 2013. These retail stores, and the 350 fuel stations it owns, make up the Empire Company conglomerate, headquartered in Stellarton, Nova Scotia. Empire employs over 125,000 people including franchisees and affiliates.
