How does someone inform the U.S. Postal Service to hold mail?

To have the U.S. Postal Service hold mail, a person simply fills out the online form or visits a local post office to fill out a mail hold form. The United States Postal Service will hold a person's mail for up to 30 days.
When completing the form, people need to know the dates they will be away. They are also asked to select how they want to retrieve their mail upon return. Options include having it delivered after the scheduled return date or picking it up at the post office. For a minimal fee, people can also have their mail held for a period of time and then packaged and shipped at a temporary location.
