What is special about the 1914 10-dollar bill?

The 1914 $10 currency note is unique in that it bears a date of December 23, 1913, instead of 1914. There were two different versions of the bill printed: one bearing a red seal and one bearing a blue seal.

As of 2014, blue seal bills carry a value of at least $50 in circulated condition, while star notes command a premium. According to the currency experts at Old Currency Buyers, red seal versions were printed first and in lesser quantities. Low-grade red seal bills are generally worth about $200, and those in perfect condition often command upwards of several thousand dollars.
