Who is on the 10 dollar bill?

Alexander Hamilton's portrait is on the $10 bill. He served in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, was a co-author of "The Federalist Papers," founded the first American political party and served as the first secretary of the treasury.

As secretary of the treasury, Hamilton argued for the federal government to assume the debts incurred by the states during the Revolution. He convinced Congress to charter the First Bank of the United States, established the U.S. Mint and supported industrialization through protective tariffs. Hamilton was opposed at nearly every turn by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. He was killed in a duel with Aaron Burr in 1804.
