What is a speed and feed productivity chart?
By Forinfos - 29/12/2025 - 0 comments
Speed and feed productivity charts provide the optimum spindle speed and feedrate for machining or milling a given type of metal. The machining or milling equipment manufacturer often provides charts for its tools.
The term “speed†in a speed and feed productivity chart refers to cutting speed, and “feed†is how many inches per minute the cutter moves. The primary function of the chart is to ensure long tool life while maximizing productivity. If a tool is going too fast or the feedrate is too high, it can cause the tool to wear out faster or break. On the other hand, productivity decreases if the tool is moving too slow. The speed and feed productivity chart provides a balance between the two.
