According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Carolina Reaper is the spiciest pepper in the world with an average rating of 1,569,300 Scoville heat units. Some of these peppers, however, have a measurement as high as 2,200,000 Scoville heat units.
Peppers are measured using the Scoville scale, which measures the amount of capsaicin found in spicy foods. The Carolina Reaper is about 300 times hotter than the jalapeño pepper, which only contains about 10,000 Scoville heat units. The Carolina Reaper is so hot that people can burn their hands just by touching it, and it is even hotter than most pepper sprays.
