What is the American Forestry Association?

The American Forestry Association is over 100 years old and is America’s oldest forest conservation society. The American Forestry Association engages in activities to promote the growth of trees around the globe.

These activities include estimating the ages of trees, keeping legislators informed about the health of forests around the world and planting trees. The AFA partners with a number of other agencies to fulfill its mission. This volunteer organization maintains the National Registry of Big Trees, which keeps up-to-date records on tree growth and monitors potential tree damage due to pollution. The AFA's main headquarters is located in Washington, D.C..
