How many runners compete in the NYRR each year?

The New York Road Runners organization has more than 40,000 members as of September 2015. The New York Road Runners annually conducts dozens of races throughout New York City, including its main event, the New York City Marathon.

The New York City Marathon is one of six events the New York Road Runners conducts in November. Each year, it finishes on December 31 at 11:59 p.m., with the 4-mile New York Road Runners Midnight Run.

A key benefit of New York Road Runners membership is having a guaranteed entry into the New York Marathon. Members must complete nine New York Road Runners-sponsored races and serve as a volunteer at one event to receive the entry.
