Peel Away Marine Safety Strip is the best paint remover to use on a fiberglass boat. The product, which is produced by Dumond Chemicals, is popular because it is environmentally friendly in addition to being effective. Peel Away also works on wood boats and can remove varnishes, polyurethanes and shellac.
One gallon of Peel Away Marine Safety Strip strips the paint of between 40 and 50 square feet. The product can be applied with a brush, a roller or an airless sprayer. Once applied, allow the stripper to sit and do its work for up to 24 hours, then remove by scraping or washing it off. For tougher spots, a second application may be required.
