What is SRS?

A software requirements specification is a description of software in development that describes the function the software serves and what the software does. An SRS is useful for software developers because it reduces the time and resources needed to achieve the final product.
An SRS includes a comprehensive overview of how the new application is intended to function in real-world situations, as well as how it interacts with other programs. An SRS evaluates operating parameters to evaluate whether a new application is maintainable, cost-effective and able to achieve the goals set out for it, such as response time and operating speed.
