The Irish have celebrated the holiday for more than 1,000 years. St. Patrick's Day falls during Lent, so many Irish families attend church in the morning and celebrate St. Patrick's Day in the afternoon. Irish bacon and cabbage is the traditional meal that Irish people consume on St. Patrick's Day.
