A Stanley plum is a fruit produced from the Stanley plum tree. The botanical name is Prunus domestica, also known as dwarf plum. It is categorized as a European plum.
A Stanley plum tree grows up to 30 feet high and 25 feet wide, and the semi-dwarf grows up to 18 feet high. After planting, the tree bears fruit within three to five years and reaches full production in 10 years. White flowers bloom in April, followed by dark green leaves. The fruit ripens in the summer. The Old Farmer’s Almanac suggests planting the dwarf-size trees 20 to 25 feet apart.
