The state which offers the highest minimum wage is Washington state at $9.47 an hour, as of 2015. The District of Columbia holds the highest minimum wage in the country at $10.50 an hour.
The second highest minimum wage state is Oregon with $9.25 an hour. Connecticut and Vermont are tied as the third highest at $9.15 an hour. Rhode Island, Minnesota and Massachusetts are tied at fourth place at $9.00 an hour. As of Jan. 1, 2015, Wyoming and Georgia have minimum wage rates lower than the federal rate. Virginia, Missouri, Texas, Utah and Oklahoma are all exempt from coverage that is subject to the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
