What are sticky keys?

Sticky keys are a feature built into Microsoft Windows allowing users to press one key at a time instead of multiple keys for combination commands. With sticky keys enabled, a user can press and release a modifier key such as Control, then press the next key in the combination.
Microsoft first introduced sticky keys with Windows 95, but the feature remains available in later versions. Originally designed to help users with accessibility limitations, sticky keys also help users avoid repetitive strain injury. By enabling sticky keys, users are able to press a single key at a time and still use the full range of keyboard shortcuts and commands.
