What are stock charts?

A stock chart is simply a chart that plots the prices of one or more stocks over a certain time frame. Sometimes, stock charts are called time series plots.
Most stock charts are made the same way. The vertical axis represents the price scale of a particular stock. The horizontal axis represents the time scale the chart covers.
Stock charts are often used by analysts to predict future movements in the price of a stock. Stock charts can be made to show data on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis. Traders often rely on daily charts, and investors focus primarily on weekly and monthly charts.
