Google offers the most comprehensive street view service. Google employees drive cars with cameras on top to create 360 degree views of streets all around the United States and in some other countries as well. User-generated services, such as Mapillary and Photosynth, are not nearly as comprehensive or technical.

Google uses professional grade technical equipment, including cameras and lasers, to create three-dimensional models of streets. The modelling software uses algorithms to create 360-degree images with as few obvious seams as possible. These algorithms filter through images to match weather and lighting when overlapping the photos to create the street view.
