What structures do all cells have?

All cells, which include eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells, have a plasma membrane, DNA, ribosomes and cytoplasm. The plasma membrane is a protective barrier that separates the cell from the rest of its environment. The plasma membrane does allow material to be transported through it.

Animals and plants contain eukaryotic cells. Bacteria consists of prokaryotic cells. Although both eukaryotes and prokaryotes may have these four organelles in common, there are many differences between the two. Prokaryotes do not have a nucleus nor its content, the nucleolus. Similarly, some other organelles not found in prokaryotes that are present in eukaryotes are centrioles, lysosomes, vacuoles and mitochondria.

Some other differences between eukaryotes and prokaryotes are that prokaryotes reproduce through asexual means, while eukaryotes can reproduce sexually or asexually.
