What does the style do on a plant?

On a flowering plant, the style is a tube that connects the stigma to the ovary. All three are components in the female section of the plant called the pistil.
The pistil is typically in the center section of a flower. At the top is the sticky stigma for collecting pollen, which is essential for fertilization. At the end of the style is the ovary, which contains ovules – the egg cells. Once a plant is fertilized, the ovary develops into fruit, while the ovules become seeds.
The male parts of a flowering plant's reproductive system are the stamens. These typically encircle the pistil. A stamen's long filament is topped by an anther, which is where pollen is produced.
