The Allstate Sugar Bowl takes place every year around January 1 at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. The Sugar Bowl has been played annually since 1935. Until 2014, the game usually featured the champion of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Southeastern Football Conference taking on an at-large opponent.
As of 2014, the Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Peach Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Orange Bowl and Fiesta Bowl rotate as hosts for the semifinal games of the College Football Playoff, in a three-year cycle. The Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl play host to the playoff games starting in 2015, then every three years after that.
