What is the survival rate for bone cancer?

The 5-year survival rate for people with bone cancer is 70 percent, as stated by the American Cancer Society. This is a combined average for all types of bone cancer in both children and adults.
These survival rates are from data collected and observed in 2014. Chondrosarcoma, even though it is a rare type of cancer, is the most common type of bone cancer found in adults and the 5-year survival rate is 80 percent for that type by itself. Chondrosarcoma develops in the cartilage of the hipbones or thighbones. This type of cancer is mostly found in adults age 40 and older, notes Mayo Clinic, and it is very rare for a child or young adult to get it.
