In 2009, Sci Fi Channel changed its name to SyFy as part of a rebranding effort to attract new viewers. At the time of the name change, Tim Howe, the president of the channel, stated that the new name better represented the broad range of programming the network offered.
As of 2015, SyFy is available in 94.8 million U.S. households. The network airs original series, miniseries and made-for-cable movies in addition to syndicated television shows. It features science fiction and fantasy, reality, wrestling, drama and horror programming. Popular shows on SyFy include "WWE SmackDown," "Ghost Hunters," "Dark Matter," "Haven" and "Face Off."
