Symptoms of a group B streptococcus infection during pregnancy include urinary tract infections, pneumonia and serious blood infections. Many women who carry the infection do not experience symptoms, according to Mayo Clinic.

Additional symptoms of a group B streptococcus infection in pregnant women include early rupture of membranes and fever that comes on during labor, explains the American Pregnancy Association.

Because group B streptococcus infections are usually symptom-free, a pregnant woman should seek a test as early as 35 weeks into the pregnancy, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If the test is positive, the CDC recommends an intravenous course of antibiotics during labor.
