The early symptoms of liver failure include diarrhea, nausea, loss of appetite and jaundice, according to the Mayo Clinic. As liver failure progresses, symptoms may include bruising, an enlarged spleen and fluid buildup in the legs and abdomen.
The American Liver Foundation reports that as the liver starts failing, many people find themselves easily fatigued and they have a general feeling that something is not right. Many people see their doctors when they notice the skin and the whites of their eyes begin to turn yellow. Some people also experience a swelling or tenderness in the upper abdomen, and behavior changes may also take place.
