The U.S. nickel, as of 2014, does not feature a person on the tails side of the coin. The tails side of the coin features Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home in Virginia. The front, or heads side, features an image of Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States.
Thomas Jefferson and Monticello have been featured on the U.S. nickel since 1938. The design of the Jefferson Nickel was updated in 2006 and features an image of Jefferson based on a portrait by Rembrandt Peale. The 2006 update to the tails side of the coin includes enhanced detail of the external features of Monticello.
