As of 2015, the biggest redwood tree in the world is a 379.1-foot-tall specimen found in Redwood National and State Parks in California. The tree is named Hyperion. It is not only the tallest redwood tree, but the tallest tree of any species on Earth.
Hyperion is unusual because it was found on a slope in a remote area of the park, while most of the tallest redwoods grow in the valleys. Scientists also believe that the tree is only about 600 years old, which is quite young for a redwood. This means that the tree might still grow taller over the course of its life.
