How tall are deer?

According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, adult white-tailed deer stand between 36 and 42 inches tall at the shoulder. Adults are about 72 inches in length, with males and females weighing an average of 203 and 155 pounds, respectively.

With the exception of some western and southwestern parts of the United States, the species is found throughout most of North America. The deer gets its name from the white underside of its tail, which it displays when it senses danger. These herbivores are able to escape predators by running at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour and leaping as high as 10 feet in one bound.
