When was the Tarter Gate Company founded?

The Tarter Gate Company was founded in 1945 by Chrisman Vanwinkle Tarter in Dunnville, Kentucky. During the company's formative years, Tarter made his gates by hand out of wood.

Roger and Vivian Tarter, the son and daughter-in-law of Chrisman Tarter, purchased the company in 1948. David and Donald Tarter, sons of Roger and Vivian, also worked for the Tarter Gate Company. Eventually, the company expanded to produce galvanized-steel and tubular gates.

The Tarter Gate Company changed its name to Tarter Farm and Ranch Equipment in 2008 to reflect the expanded line of products sold by the company. The Tarter family still owns and operates the company.
