How do you change your name in Gmail?

To change the name associated with your Gmail account, first log into your Gmail account. Enter the Settings menu and click the Accounts tab. Click the Edit Info link, and enter the name you want to be associated with your account.

1. Log into your Gmail account

   Open a web browser and enter Gmail.com into the address bar. Enter your username and password to log into the account. Click the Sign in button.

2. Open the Accounts tab

   Click on the gear icon located in the upper-right corner of the screen. Under the Set mail as... section, select Edit Info. An interface appears where you can alter settings associated with your Gmail account.

3. Change your name

   Enter the new name you want associated with the Gmail account. This is the name that appears in a recipient's email client when you send them an email. Click the Save Changes button.

4. Send yourself an email

   To ensure that your name is properly updated, send yourself a new email. Click the Compose button in Gmail. Enter your Gmail address in the To box. Click the Send button. Open the email and look for the name in bold next to your email address. This should match the name you previously updated.
