What is a SATA hard drive?
By Forinfos - 03/11/2025 - 0 comments
A SATA hard drive is a hard drive storage device that is capable of connecting directly to a host system through a bus interface. The acronym SATA stands for Serial Advanced Technology Attachment, which comes from the older AT connectors previously used in computers.
Many hard drives produced today are qualified as SATA hard drives. There have been five revisions to the standard SATA system, each producing slightly larger megabits per second ratings. As of 2014, the latest SATA Revision 3.2 operates at 1,969 megabits per second. It also produced a reduction of the thickness of the physical structure of the hard drive compared to previous models.
