What is a word cloud?

A tag cloud, also known as a word cloud or a weighted list, is a compilation of various tags generated by a user to describe content on a website. Each tag typically consists of a word containing a link to additional content related to the tag's topic.

The tags included in the tag cloud are usually listed alphabetically, and they are often distinguished by different font sizes or colors to help users find tags that are used more often to describe a site's content.

Photo-sharing site Flickr was one of the first high-profile websites to utilize tag clouds, as were Del.icio.us and Technorati.
