At what temperature does beer freeze?

Most beers freeze at 27 degrees Fahrenheit or about -2 degrees Celsius. Light beers freeze at a slightly higher temperature of 31 degrees Fahrenheit or -0.5 degrees Celsius.

To serve chilled beer, it must be stored at 36 to 40 F or about 2 to 4 C. Storing the beer at the proper temperature is important to maintain the beer's level of carbonation when served. It should not be frozen because it will cause its ingredients to break down and flakes to form. As beer becomes colder than 38 degrees Fahrenheit, it gradually loses its distinct flavor, aroma and foam.
