What is the temperature range a gas range can heat up to?

The maximum temperature of a gas range, when used for cooking, is 287.7 degrees Celsius, or 549.86 degrees Fahrenheit, and for the self-cleaning process, 537.7 degrees Celsius or 999.86 degrees Fahrenheit. Natural gas and propane gas stoves have the same maximum temperature readings.
Compared to an electric oven, the gas ovens tend to burn hotter and the various models have more consistent average temperatures. That's because they all burn the gas in the same way, no matter the brand. While some temperature controls may show the actual temperatures, some ovens use gas marks. These are numbers from 1/4 to 9 that designate oven temperature.
