Soldier termites are known to bite to protect their colony and to keep away predators. They also fight with other termites that invade their colony. Formosan termites are known to bite people since they have strong jaws. Their bite is usually associated with some pain, which results to a red area on the skin. Termites are not known to cause health risks to humans, but can lead to a huge destruction of property if not controlled.
