There are several online tests available to help decide whether an individual is a Democrat, a Republican or an independent. Some providers of these tests are isidewith.com, pbs.org and people-press.org.

Tests that determine whether an individual is a Democrat, Republican or independent ask a series of cultural, social and economic questions. The test then compares the responses to the positions of the Democratic and Republican parties on those topics. If the answers are more similar to one party's responses, the test categorizes the taker as a Democrat or a Republican; if the answers vary between parties or aren't strongly linked to either party's response, it may categorize the taker as an independent.
