The Thredbo Landslide in 1997 was a landslide of dirt, mud and trees on a mountain at Thredbo Ski Village in New South Wales, according to the Australian Emergency Management Institute. It was one of the largest and most deadly landslides in Australian history, causing destruction of two ski resorts.

The Thredbo Landslide occurred due to the movement of settlement under a nearby road. The force of the landslide and debris caused two ski lodges to collide. Rescue efforts took over two days. Eighteen people on the mountain died, and there was a sole survivor found nestled between slabs of concrete, a ski instructor named Stuart Diver.
