The three brands with the most Energy Star-qualified full-size refrigerator models of as of 2015 are General Electric, Frigidaire and Kenmore. The most efficient refrigerators of all certified models are compact refrigerators manufactured by Fisher & Paykel, Marvel and Haier.

The most efficient refrigerators overall use very little energy partially due to having a small interior capacity as compared to full-size refrigerators, with the largest having only 5.1 cubic feet of interior space. In comparison, the smallest full-size refrigerator manufactured by the three brands with the most Energy Star-certified models is nearly twice as large at 9.9 cubic feet of interior space.
