Are Maytag washing machines more energy efficient than other brands?

Maytag's most efficient washers on the market as of 2015 are not the most energy-efficient washers in their size ranges. The most efficient Maytag model consumes an estimated 109 kilowatt hours per year, while the most efficient similarly sized model consumes 90 kilowatt hours per year.

In addition to requiring more electricity than the most efficient washers, Maytag washers also require more water. Estimated water consumption for Maytag's most efficient model is 4,239 gallons per year, versus 3,662 gallons for the most efficient similar washing machine. Though not the most efficient washers of all manufacturers, seven Maytag washer models qualify as ENERGY STAR appliances according to 2015 guidelines.
