The largest front-loading non-commercial washing machine on sale as of 2015 is certified as an Energy Star-compliant appliance by the Department of Energy. The Samsung WF56H9100A uses only 100 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year despite its large capacity.
The Samsung WF56H9100A has 5.6 cubic feet of internal capacity, beating out the capacity of the previous largest non-commercial washing machine by 0.4 cubic feet. The WFH56H9100A is large enough to handle up to 32 pounds of laundry, but is rated by the Department of Energy as having a Modified Energy Factor of 3.55, well in excess of the 2.0 rating required for Energy Star certification
