What are the three types of fungi?
By Forinfos - 09/06/2025 - 0 comments
The three types of fungi are yeast, mushroom and mold. Yeast is a unicellular fungus that can cause ringworm and baker’s yeast, mushroom is a fungus that grows from soil or trees and mold is a multicellular fungus that includes mildew.
Fungi get their nutrients from organic matter in the environment, making them heterotrophs. They secrete enzymes outside of their bodies that digest their food. They can then absorb the nutrients. Fungi reproduce by sexual or asexual spores or by budding. Multicellular fungi grow by the extension of hyphae that branch and form from mycelium. Fungi can cause many diseases in humans, such as skin or vaginal infections, systematic infections, oral thrush and cancer.
