When is the best time to plant a willow bush?

The best time to plant a willow bush is in the late winter or the early spring. This is when the willow, which is a deciduous bush, is dormant. Also, this is the time that ground that has been frozen during the mid-winter begins to thaw.
Planting the bush during the summer is inadvisable because it's too hot, and the stress of the heat and the stress of being transplanted may overwhelm the bush. If planting in late winter or early spring isn't an option, the bush can be planted during the fall; however, the bush must then undergo the rigors of the coming winter.
