What are some tips for growing sugar baby watermelons?

To grow sugar baby watermelons, start the seeds indoors for three to five days, then transfer to an outdoor area in full sun that has highly fertile soil. As sugar babies are early season watermelons, only start seeds outdoors in environments with long, hot growing seasons.
Choose an overcast day to transplant the seedlings outdoors. This causes less wilting and allows the plant to adjust to the new conditions more easily. The ideal soil needs to be warm, be high in organic matter and have a pH between 6.5 and 7.5.
To prevent insect damage, place growing melons on pots or pieces of wood and do not plant cucumber family crops, such as melons, in the same area for two consecutive years.
