What are some tips for labradoodle grooming?

Labradoodles have heavy wool-like coats that need far more rigorous grooming regimens than dogs with thinner coats. Several brushing sessions a week will keep the labradoodle fresh and clean.

When brushing a labradoodle, it is important to get all the way down to the skin, massaging out flakes of dandruff and encouraging healthy blood flow. After brushing, use a comb to smooth out any knots. Baths should be administered regularly, but not too often, as excessive bathing will remove the natural oils from the coat that make it shiny and smooth. Only the downward turning part of the nail should be trimmed, and the outside of the ears should be cleaned once a month with a moist cotton swab.
