Cleaning mold from concrete is a two-step process that requires cleaning the mold with a solution of warm water and soap. The cleaning is then followed up with a bleach solution to ensure the mold does not return.
Whether there is mold on a concrete floor or concrete wall, the steps to permanently remove the mold are the same.
- Prepare a cleaning solution
- Make a bleach solution
- Let the solution sit
- Give the area proper ventilation
Prepare a solution of mild dish soap and warm water and scrub the mold stain. Use a sponge or scrub brush to remove as much mold as possible. Any dirt left behind will hinder the mold removal process.
Once the wall or floor is clean, prepare a solution of one cup bleach to one gallon of warm. Using the solution and a hard-bristle brush, scrub the mold stain. Be sure to do take the proper precautions when working with bleach. Wear gloves and go outside if the fumes become unbearable.
After the mold is gone, allow the solution to sit on the stain for about 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, dry the area.
After going through the cleaning process, be sure to give the area proper ventilation and make sure its stays dry to prevent regrowth.
