Some techniques for removing gum from concrete include freezing it to scrape it off or pouring a solution of scouring powder on it. For soft gum, the freezing technique is recommended, while the scouring method is preferred for hardened gum.
One should use a freezing agent or ice cube to help fresh gum solidify into a workable substance. After that, the person should scrape off what he can using a putty knife or wood spatula. To remove any remaining residue, he should then spray on some WD-40, which helps the remaining pieces of gum loosen up. For hardened gum, one should pour scouring powder and water on it and use a wire brush to scrub the area. The worker may need to apply a second coating and do more scrubbing for a complete removal.
