When using a food processor, make sure meats and cheeses are very cold so they can slice better. When making a dish with multiple chopped ingredients, process harder foods before softer ones.
When making pastry dough, add the dry ingredients, followed by the chilled fat, and conclude with the liquid. To make puree from cooked foods, reserve 1/2 cup of liquid before adding the drained, cooked food to the processor. Fill the bowl halfway and process the food for 15 or 20 seconds at a time, occasionally scraping the sides. Make bread or cookie crumbs by breaking the food into small pieces and grinding it for 15 seconds at a time.
