Tricia Lucus and Toby Keith met in a club, and Keith married her when he was 22. Lucus had a child from a previous relationship, but Keith adopted the child as his own. The couple went on to have one son and one daughter of their own.

Keith credits Tricia with helping him achieve success, as she supported his dreams, even during times of financial struggle.
